About The Researcher

I’m Rachel Derenthal, the genealogist behind Heritage Link and the person who will personally guide and complete every step of your research. I’ve spent more than eight years helping people uncover their roots, working with both major genealogy organizations and private clients. My background includes roles in research, project management, and leadership, and I continue to partner with organizations as a contract researcher while supporting families through individualized genealogy projects.

My work is grounded in a deep respect for the people and stories hidden in the records. I believe that good genealogy is more than assembling names and dates—it’s about understanding how your ancestors lived, moved, and made the choices that shaped future generations.

Research Expertise

I have extensive experience researching families across the United States, with a particular focus on New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. I also regularly work with records from Ontario, Canada; England; and several Southern U.S. states. My strengths include untangling complex family lines, solving brick-wall challenges, and tracing immigration and migration patterns that reveal the journeys of earlier generations.
